Following a satellite survey, 600 homes in Uttarakhand’s “sinking” town of Joshimath were evacuated. “We are aware that 600 homes have been evacuated as of right now. Also, 4,000 individuals have been relocated to safer regions “a senior Ministry of Home Affairs member. The official added that the lower parts of the Army and ITBP facilities have also shown some vulnerabilities, but suitable protections are being implemented.
A high-level central committee led by Dr. Dharmendra Singh Gangwar, secretary for border management, arrived in Dehradun at the same time and met with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. A high-level Home Ministry official stated, “The NDRF and local authorities are conducting surveys to obtain the exact statistics. He said that it appears that 30% of Joshimath is impacted. An expert committee is compiling a report, which will be delivered to the Prime Minister’s Office.
More than 200 homes in the sinking town have red cross markings on them because they are hazardous to live in, according to the district administration. It requested that their residents move to temporary relief centers or rented homes for each household to get support from the state administration/ government of 4,000 per month for the following six months.
